6 Signs of Poor Roof Ventilation

Your roof protects your home from the elements. If a roof is poorly ventilated, all sorts of structural problems may ensue. Roofing ventilation refers to the intake and exhaust vent system and the free flow of air in the attic. Some signs of poor roof ventilation are obvious, such as leaks or pests in the attic. When condensation gets on the back of the decking, it causes the decking to warp. Look for a hump in the shingles. It is worse when there is heat because the sun draws the nails out, causing them to come loose and warp. Always have the roof inspected if you notice a significant number of loose shingles.
